about
Hey everyone, thanks for checking out my latest song, "My Life in Pictures." I'm endlessly inspired by the topics of memories and loss, and the basic idea for this song stemmed from, of all things, a friend's digital picture frame (the kind that changes the image every few seconds).
It made me think of the ways we try to freeze moments in our lives and hold onto them and keep them alive in the present, even when they're no longer an accurate representation of the past.
It also made me think about, with the advent of things like youtube, the ways we are documenting more and more of our pasts almost to the point where the past and present are existing simultaneously. Of course, if you spend your present living in the past, what will you look back on in the future when you think about today?
I'm very proud of this song, and I hope you enjoy it as well.
Thanks, Glenn Page 4/9/12
lyrics
(Single Version)
Verse 1:
I saw your face in a picture frame
Turned around,
And the scene had changed
One fleeting vision come and gone
I boxed you in and tried to make it last
Spent my days living in the past
Why can't this river be a pond
Pre-Chorus 1:
Where the water portrays
An image so clear
Untouched by the waves
Unbroken by tears
Chorus:
My life in pictures
That's where I long to be
Everything's perfect
And the lighting's always right
My life in pictures
I'm watching the scenery
And somehow it's worth it
'Cause you're with me day and night
Oh, just look at the way
I pictured my life
Yeah look at the way
I pictured our life
Verse 2:
Holding onto a photograph
Wondering what it was
That made you laugh
Was it derision? I don't mind
'Cause in my head I told a joke
Made you smile with the words I spoke
Then we went walking for a while
Pre-Chorus 2:
Oh, then you took my hand
And said you would stay
I can almost believe
It happened that way
(Repeat Chorus)
Bridge:
They say a picture's worth a thousand words
Sometimes the words aren't true
And even though the camera doesn't lie
Why's it telling me
I belong with you?
(Repeat Chorus)
